WHAT TYPE OF DOMESTIC/COMMERCIAL CAMERA SYSTEM IS BEST?

This is largely dependent on WHY you are installing cameras (deterrent, detection or recognition), and of course, your available budget:

1. Basic analogue cameras are old technology but generally reasonably priced.

2. More sophisticated high-definition (HD) cameras are a good mid range option utilising old analogue cable technology.

3. IP cameras and remote access are effectively the future of camera technology and have functions and features that vary with price. High- end features may include data storage and analytics at the camera itself, facial recognition, number plate capture and alarm interface outputs. These are all options that will impact the total cost.

4. In low or poor light environments, high-resolution cameras do not necessarily give the best quality images. An infrared low-resolution camera may work better in low or poor light environment, whereas a high-resolution camera works better in the daylight.
